HOK Opens New Office In Miami

This new Miami office demonstrates firm’s strong commitment to serving clients across South Florida, where it has previously completed many projects.

With the opening of a new Miami studio in the heart of Coral Gables, HOK is growing its presence in South Florida. The office will support numerous HOK markets and disciplines in the region, including Healthcare, Science + Technology, Corporate, Aviation + Transportation and Justice. HOK already has an office in Tampa.

“We have long had a strong presence in South Florida and are currently working on significant projects in Miami,” said Susan Williams, AIA, LEED AP, HOK’s managing principal. “As full-time members of the community, we look forward to participating more fully in the region’s tremendous energy and growth.”

Leaders in the Miami office include Jonathan Rae, senior regional practice leader; Steven Burgos, regional leader of workplace; and Carla Gomez, senior project manager.

Several HOK employees have already relocated to Miami, and more will follow. The firm will officially move into the office at 124 Giralda Avenue in downtown Coral Gables in the fourth quarter of 2022. The space overlooks Giralda Plaza, a pedestrian street lined with restaurants, outdoor seating and seasonal art installations.

HOK designed the flexible office space to support a hybrid work environment that includes unassigned seating, huddle rooms and a social hub that encourages collaboration and gatherings. The finishes and furnishings reflect the neighborhood’s personality: bright, fresh, diverse and vibrant.

Current HOK projects include the new Miami-Dade County Civil Courthouse, the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center–Griffin Cancer Research Building and several workplace projects for financial services industry clients. Past HOK projects in Miami include the design for the modernization of Hard Rock Stadium and the design of the Miami-Dade Children’s Courthouse, University of Miami Patricia Louise Frost Music Studios and the Patricia and Florida International University Phillip Frost Art Museum.
