Sean leads the leads the sustainable design practice in HOK’s Pacific region and coordinates performance design services across the firm. Based in San Francisco, he directs the studio’s integrated design approach to guide the application of sustainable strategies, including energy and environmental performance, net-zero energy and carbon, resilience planning and green building certification.
With more than 15 years of experience across North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, Sean champions the integration of building simulation as a design driver to inspire form, performance, and stakeholder health and well-being. He drives sustainability efforts across the studio’s broad portfolio of local, regional and international projects. By advancing firm-wide research efforts in innovative building systems, fabrication, parametric design and biomimicry, he discovers simple solutions to complex problems.
Sean is the cofounder and former chair of HOK IMPACT, which leads the firm’s approach to social responsibility and empowering the communities where its people live and work.
