We’re looking forward to several big project openings this year. While these projects represent a diversity of building types, they share a common goal: to delight and inspire.

In alphabetical order, here are our 10 most anticipated project openings of 2025:

1. Avicii Arena Modernization
Stockholm, Sweden

Crews are wrapping up a major modernization of Stockholm’s iconic Avicci Arena, home to Sweden’s national hockey team. Updates include a unique retractable ceiling that will transform and optimize the venue’s look and acoustics based on event type. New gondola seating, similar to that used in the HOK-designed Little Caesars Arena, will bring fans closer to the action than ever before. HOK is collaborating on the renovation with C.F. Møller Architects, Schlaich Bergermann Partners (SBP), Ramboll, Efterklang, Light Bureau and AFRY.

2. Bioterra Life Sciences Building

San Diego, California

This new life sciences development bolsters San Diego’s status as a hub for scientific research and discovery. The building features modern labs and office suites and exceptional amenities, including a café, fitness center, conference center and rooftop patio. Developed by Longfellow Real Estate Partners, a leader in environmentally and socially responsible projects, the building will be San Diego’s first life sciences facility with an all-electric HVAC system.

3. Bon Secours Hospital
Ballysimon, Ireland

Bon Secours Health System’s new 150-bed hospital on the outskirts of Limerick will provide state-of-the-art care for up to 50,000 patients annually. The hospital’s design and programming incorporate general medicine and specialty health services. Key features of the building include four operating theatres, an ophthalmology unit, a radiology department and a 20-bay ambulatory surgical unit.

4. Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center
Washington, D.C.

The first inpatient hospital built in the District of Columbia in more than 20 years, Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center will provide critical care to residents living in the underserved communities of Wards 7 and 8. The 136-bed, full-service hospital includes an ambulatory pavilion for physician offices, clinics and community space and a helipad for emergency transports. HOK collaborated on the design with associate architect McKissack & McKissack. The $375-million project is set to open this spring.

5. The Ballpark at America First Square
South Jordan, Utah

Home to MiLB’s Salt Lake Bees, this new Triple-A ballpark features seating for 6,500 fans within a new master-planned community in Salt Lake City’s fastest-growing suburb. The three-story ballpark complements the local architecture, featuring a brick and concrete foundation that transitions to lighter materials as the building rises. The ballpark will feature a team store on the plaza (open extended hours beyond games), an expansive video scoreboard, alcohol-free family zones and striking views of the Wasatch Mountains.

6. George Bush Intercontinental Airport Federal Inspection Services Building
Houston, Texas

This multifaceted aviation project includes renovations to the airport’s Federal Inspection Services building and new construction for portions of the international ticketing and departures hall, collectively named the Mickey Leland International Terminal. HOK’s design transforms what had been Terminal E’s check-in area into a light-filled, spacious TSA security checkpoint. With generous queue space and automated screening lanes, this new space brings a sense of calm to passengers. As passengers enter the security checkpoint, two flanking portal walls on the departures level showcase the beauty of Houston’s landscape.

7. Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center

New Brunswick, New Jersey

Scheduled to open this spring, the Jack and Sheryl Morris Cancer Center will be the first freestanding cancer hospital in the state of New Jersey. Operated by Rutgers Cancer Institute and RWJBarnabas Health, the state-of-the-art facility features outpatient and inpatient oncology services coupled with research laboratories, retail space and ancillary services devoted to patient wellness.

8. Miami Dade County Courthouse
Miami, Florida

The 25-story Miami-Dade County Civil Courthouse occupies a prominent downtown corner across from Miami’s existing 1920s-era civil courthouse. The new 620,000-sq.-ft. facility will house the Civil and Probate Divisions of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, the Clerk of Courts and related agencies. At 474 feet, it will be one of Miami’s tallest government buildings.

9. University of Miami Griffin Cancer Research Building (GCRB)
Miami, Florida

The University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center – Griffin Cancer Research Building (GCRB) will be a hub for cancer research, innovation, wellness and patient-centered care. Eight of the floors will focus on new and emerging therapies and treatments to cure cancer through collaborative research. Flexible laboratories will feature the latest technologies and equipment to support researchers.
