The new 2021 Design Annual highlights selected recent work from HOK’s design studios.
As the first-ever digital-only edition, the Design Annual is available now on hok.com.
The geographically diverse projects are the result of collaborations across many different disciplines and market sectors. Projects are chronicled from concept through completion.
With the theme of “Reframing a Sustainable Future,” this year’s Annual examines 21 projects through three distinct lenses of sustainability: environmental, social and economic. It also incorporates the American Institute of Architects’ Framework for Design Excellence, which assesses each project on 10 performance measures.
“As designers help clients respond to the pandemic, the climate crisis and the much-needed push for equity, sustainability in all its forms is paramount,” said HOK Chairman and CEO Bill Hellmuth, FAIA, LEEP AP. “Our teams are using the AIA’s defining principles of excellent design as a guide to produce the most sustainable, resilient and inclusive solutions for all our projects. At this time of such great need in the world, there is no other choice.”
