Sande Frisen AIA, NCARB, CDT

Sande is a principal and senior project manager in HOK’s Detroit studio with more than 20 years of experience leading the delivery of complex sports, entertainment and hospitality projects. His work is focused on bringing together design vision, technical rigor and disciplined project management to create high-performing venues that elevate the guest experience and provide lasting value for clients and communities.
Sande is known for his ability to guide large, multidisciplinary teams through challenging projects with multiple stakeholders, consultants and phased implementation. He works closely with owners, design teams and contractors to translate ambitious ideas into practical solutions. His leadership extends beyond individual projects to include staff mentorship, practice standards and studio operations.
His portfolio includes nearly the entire USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center’s campus including both Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong Stadiums, as well as the NHL Florida Panthers training center and the Fort Lauderdale War Memorial Auditorium renovation.
Active in the design community, Sande is a member of the American Institute of Architects and served as the chair for the Retail and Entertainment Knowledge Community. He also volunteers on both the Zoning and Building Code Boards of Appeals in his local community.
