David Coleman Is HOK’s New Leader of Science + Technology in St. Louis

David Coleman, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, has joined HOK as a regional leader for the firm’s Science + Technology group.

Coleman has nearly 25 years of experience designing college and university projects, with a specialty in strategic facility planning, programming and conceptual design.

“David brings a deep understanding of college and university facility design, particularly the planning and design of science, biomedical and health science education facilities on campuses,” said Randy Kray, director of HOK’s Science + Technology practice. “We’re confident David will be an asset to our clients in the Midwest and beyond, strengthening the practice, mentoring staff and leveraging his extensive expertise to shape campus communities and encourage discovery.”

As a regional leader, Coleman will be responsible for overseeing Science + Technology projects, guiding project pursuits and expanding the practice. He will collaborate with clients to deliver projects that help transform campuses.

“We’re happy to welcome David to our team in St. Louis,” said Eli Hoisington, design principal for HOK’s St. Louis studio. “He is passionate about using design to support broader campus research and learning goals, and his portfolio of work represents projects at universities across the nation.”

Coleman is a frequent speaker on trends impacting the design of higher education facilities at conferences including SCUP, APPA, NACUBO and Tradeline. He also has contributed articles to industry publications on topics such as leveraging technology in design to educate next-generation healthcare professionals.

Coleman is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis with a Master of Architecture and the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts. He is active in industry and civic organizations and is an alumnus of Leadership St. Louis.
