The American Red Cross used the relocation and redesign of its headquarters as an opportunity to change the way its people in North America work. The humanitarian organization wanted to create more spaces for concentration, collaboration and community.

HOK’s space management specialists developed a new workplace program with supporting tools that streamlined the Red Cross’s real estate and facility projects and helped them implement the new flexible workplace program.

The team also centralized the Red Cross’s space planning functions, making them more consistent and efficient. These tools supported the implementation of a flexible remote work program.

The projects optimized the Red Cross’s space utilization levels to align with industry standards while reducing its overall real estate portfolio.
