The architect in HOK’s Boston studio is recognized for her technical expertise and multiscale approach to healthcare design.
Healthcare Design magazine has named Heejin Park, AIA, EDAC, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, to its 2026 class of Rising Stars. The annual awards program recognizes emerging professionals whose contributions and perspectives are advancing the field of healthcare design.
An architect in HOK’s Boston studio, Park brings together detailed clinical planning, technology coordination and systems-level thinking. Her early healthcare experience included designing hospitals in South Korea and helping healthcare providers across Asia and Oceania integrate advanced imaging technology into clinical environments. This work strengthened her understanding of how equipment, workflows and space must function together.
After earning a Master of Architecture in Urban Design from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Park joined HOK in 2023. Her recent work includes the surgical suite expansion at Jersey City Medical Center, where she led coordination for a hybrid-ready operating room designed to support robotic surgical systems and integrated audiovisual platforms.
Park also has explored strategies for helping coastal healthcare campuses withstand flooding and extreme weather while maintaining continuity of care. Through an HOK research competition, she and colleagues Qingyu Cai and Kelsey Barron developed a framework incorporating elevated circulation, ecological buffers and distributed energy.
“A building that shapes people’s lives and well-being demands the highest level of design rigor,” Park told Healthcare Design.
