Bill Mitchell is now principal-in-charge of the Centre Block Rehabilitation project in Ottawa, and Britney Goucher has been named marketing principal for HOK’s Canadian practice. Kirsty Mitchell has been appointed regional leader of Sports + Recreation + Entertainment in HOK’s London studio.
As principal-in-charge of the Centre Block Rehabilitation, Bill Mitchell, OAA, LEED AP, will lead the ongoing design and delivery of the expansion, conservation and rehabilitation of Canada’s primary parliamentary building.
“This project carries tremendous responsibility,” said Mitchell. “It’s an opportunity to preserve the heritage of a historic institution while ensuring it supports the needs of future generations through thoughtful, lasting design.”
A senior principal at HOK, Mitchell is a registered architect with nearly 40 years of experience spanning architecture, interiors, strategic planning, space management and workplace strategy. He previously served as marketing principal for HOK’s Canadian practice and played a key role in establishing the firm’s Ottawa office and global Space Management practice.
Based in Toronto, Britney Goucher will lead business development efforts across HOK’s Calgary, Ottawa and Toronto studios. Goucher brings more than 15 years of experience across architecture and construction, giving her a holistic understanding of how design decisions influence project delivery.
“Design is meant to be enjoyed, intuitive in how it’s experienced and enriched by moments of discovery,” said Goucher. “I’m thrilled to step into this role as marketing principal to bring great design to more clients across Canada.”
Since joining the firm nearly 10 years ago, she has strengthened client relationships and advanced pursuit strategies to win work across Canada. She is a member of HOK’s firmwide marketing board.
Kirsty Mitchell, ARB RIBA, has more than 20 years of experience in the sports sector in London. In her new role, she works closely with project teams and HOK’s Director of Sports + Recreation + Entertainment – International, John Rhodes, to strengthen the firm’s sports practice and deliver lasting sports and entertainment venues.
Mitchell’s portfolio includes complex international projects, including master plans and convention centers as well as stadium and arena renovations and new builds. She authors articles on topics ranging from women’s sports facilities to immersive fan experiences and AI in sports and entertainment. She is also a member of HOK’s women in sports group exploring how to reimagine women’s sports venues to create more inclusive environments for female fans and athletes.
“Sports and entertainment venues are evolving beyond single-purpose buildings into integrated, experience-led destinations,” said Mitchell. “I’m excited to lead our team in creating environments where the fan experience is at the forefront of everything we do—bringing together technology, hospitality, and design to redefine how fans and communities connect.
