The February 5 ribbon cutting event at HOK’s newly relocated St. Louis studio at 701 Market Street highlighted HOK’s continued presence in downtown St. Louis. The St. Louis Mayor, Greater St. Louis, Inc., local elected officials and regional business leaders attended the event.

HOK’s Co-CEO and St. Louis Design Principal Eli Hoisington opened the program, reflecting on the firm’s founding in St. Louis more than 70 years ago and how the new workplace embodies HOK’s values, culture and focus on design excellence.

“This space reflects our commitment in St. Louis’ future,” said Hoisington. “It brings together talented people, emerging ideas and long-standing relationships in a setting that supports innovation, mentorship and meaningful community impact.”

St. Louis Mayor Cara Spencer, Greater St. Louis, Inc. CEO Ron Kitchens, Anders Chief Growth Officer Missy Kelley, St. Louis Alderwoman Jami Cox-Antwi, UKRAFT owner Matt Ratz and HOK’s St. Louis Marketing Principal Brad Liebman shared remarks at the event, underscoring the importance of being a part of the urban core.

“HOK is a perfect example of the type of commitment to downtown we are asking businesses to make, and we are excited to help them cut the ribbon to kick off their next chapter of growth in Downtown St. Louis,” said Mayor Spencer.

Following the ceremony, guests toured the new studio, designed by HOK’s interdisciplinary team of architects, interior designers, engineers, lighting designers and planners. The 42,000-sq.-ft. office is spread across the fourth and fifth floors of Peabody Plaza and supports collaboration, creativity and well-being for its 165 employees. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide 360-degree views of downtown and its landmarks.

“The new St. Louis office is a living laboratory for how we work today, showcasing the design strategies we bring to our clients while supporting collaboration, focused work and well-being,” said Liebman. “Natural light, views of downtown and flexible work settings create a welcoming, high-performing environment.”

The workplace includes technology-rich meeting spaces, focus rooms, project rooms and huddle areas that accommodate a range of work styles. Shared amenities include social hubs and cafes on each floor, a design gallery, a 2,000-sq.-ft. model shop and a design materials library supporting hands-on design exploration.

A neighborhood-based planning approach supports neuroinclusive design by balancing quiet work zones with collaborative spaces. Exposed structural elements, expressive lighting, warm materials and modern furnishings contribute to a comfortable, dynamic environment.
