Shannon Bartch, Chirag Mistry and Greg Sherman take on firmwide leadership roles in their areas of expertise.
HOK has promoted Shannon Bartch, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Chirag Mistry, AIA, LEED AP and Greg Sherman, PE, LEED AP BD+C to firmwide director roles in Sports + Recreation + Entertainment (SRE), Science + Technology and Engineering, respectively.
Based in San Francisco, Shannon joins Nate Appleman, Trevor Bechtold, Chris DeVolder and John Rhodes in overseeing HOK’s SRE practice known for its design of iconic stadiums, arenas and multi-purpose venues. In her over two decades in sports architecture, Shannon has played a leading role in managing and designing numerous high-profile projects for both professional and collegiate sports organizations. Recent projects she has helped shape include the modernization of PHX Arena (home of the NBA Phoenix Suns and WNBA Phoenix Mercury); San Jose State University’s new Spartan Athletics Center and the soon-to-open Daybreak Field in South Jordan, Utah (home of the Salt Lake Bees, the L.A. Angels Triple-A affiliate.)
Based in Atlanta, Chirag joins Leslie Ashor, Randy Kray and Tim O’Connell in managing HOK’s Science + Technology practice. Chirag has deep expertise in business development, project management and the design of technically complex scientific facilities, including engineering labs, bioscience and biomedical research spaces and BSL-3 facilities. Since joining HOK as an intern in 2004, Chirag has steadily taken on greater roles, lending his expertise and leadership to some of the firm’s most noteworthy Science + Technology projects, including the Francis Crick Institute, University of Chicago’s William Eckhardt Research Center, Clemson University’s Advanced Materials Innovation Complex and Emory University’s Health Sciences Research Building II, for which he served as design leader. Chirag has been instrumental in developing business intelligence tools specific to laboratory design and has shared his expertise in numerous articles and dozens of conferences. He also sits on HOK’s Management Board.
Based in Houston, Greg is an expert in designing mechanical systems that improve building operations and performance. He joins Matt Breidenthal and Claire Moore in overseeing HOK’s growing Engineering practice. Greg also joined HOK as an intern and has contributed to award-winning projects around the world, including the Texas Facilities Commission Capitol Complex Phase II, the Frank E. Moss U.S. Courthouse in Salt Lake City and a confidential headquarters in Guyana that was one of HOK’s first net zero projects. Last year, Consulting – Specifying Engineer Magazine named him to its 40 Under 40. In addition to his work designing mechanical systems across multiple building types and regions (he is licensed in 38 states), Greg serves on HOK’s Global Decarbonization Taskforce where he lends his expertise on high-performance design.
“HOK prides itself on being a firm where people can grow their careers and take on ever-greater responsibilities,” said Co-CEO Susan Klumpp Williams. “Shannon, Chirag and Greg exemplify the commitment to design excellence, client service and team success we look for in leadership. I look forward to seeing how they continue to shape HOK with these new and more expansive roles.”
