The new Terminal B is the first North American terminal to earn the 5-Star Airport Terminal Rating from Skytrax.
LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B has been awarded the 2023 World’s Best New Airport Terminal by airport rating firm Skytrax, based on a passenger survey. The award is a testament to LaGuardia’s successful transformation from one the nation’s worst airports to one of the world’s best.
The 1.3 million-square-foot LaGuardia Terminal B, which was opened in phases beginning in 2018 and completed in 2022, provides customers with a world-class experience that includes spacious interiors, floor-to-ceiling windows, a 3,000-car parking garage, new covered and convenient pickup facilities for both taxis and ride-sharing vehicles, and dual skybridges above active taxiways. The terminal offers best-in-class retail, vast dining experiences, stunning art and amenities and a water feature that is unique to any airport in the world. From curb to gate, customers truly enjoy a world-class 21st-century travel experience.

The project was overseen by LaGuardia Gateway Partners, a consortium composed of Vantage Airport Group, Skanska, Meridiam, and JLC Infrastructure for development and equity investment. Vantage Airport Group led the redevelopment program and management of Terminal B, with Skanska Walsh as the design-build joint venture and HOK and WSP for design.
LaGuardia Airport and Terminal B have received recognition from many organizations, including UNESCO’s Prix Versailles 2021 for the best new airport in the world, the Urban Land Institute New York and the Design-Build Institute of America. HOK has also been named to Fast Company’s List of Most Innovative Companies in 2022, as well as TIME Magazine’s Most Influential Companies of 2022, for the design of Terminal B.
