Chris DeVolder HOK

Chris DeVolder, AIA, LEED AP, WELL AP, has been named senior vice president and managing principal of HOK’s Kansas City office.

As a senior project leader and sustainable design leader for our Sports + Recreation + Entertainment practice, DeVolder has more than two decades of experience managing projects for sports, civic, commercial and residential clients. He has helped advance the way the profession approaches the programming, design, construction and operations of sports venues.

DeVolder’s portfolio reflects his passion for projects that make an immediate and lasting impact on their communities. These include Mercedes-Benz Stadium; Rogers Place and the ICE District; the University of Washington’s Husky Stadium; Notre Dame’s Campus Crossroads project; and Kansas City’s 18Broadway urban garden and Johnson County Sunset Drive office building.

DeVolder is a member of HOK’s management and marketing boards. As a frequent speaker and author, he is active with several philanthropic and industry organizations, including the Green Sports Alliance, USGBC and ArtsKC.

DeVolder spoke with the Kansas City Business Journal about his new role and opportunities for HOK in Kansas City: “‘One of the things we’re excited about, now that we’re part of HOK, is bringing new markets to this office. We now have people here who are working on aviation, justice, health care, and science and technology…adding these new markets will only strengthen our local work and our sports work. We see ourselves as leaders in both of those, and we think by adding these new markets, the diversity of ideas and people will just make those things we’re known for so much better.”
