HOK 2026 Design Annual

Combined Shape
Group
HOK co-CEO and St. Louis Design Principal Eli Hoisington
WATCH INTRODUCTION
"None of these projects started as clean slates. Each one turns a specific constraint—an existing structure, a tight urban site, a carbon target or a community need—into a driver of the design."
— Eli Hoisington, AIA, LEED AP
Co-CEO, Design Board Chair, St. Louis Design Principal
This group of projects says a lot about the problems our clients are asking us to help solve. A former power plant in Vero Beach becomes a civic waterfront. A beloved arena in Stockholm gets new acoustics without losing its distinctive silhouette. A net-zero school in Riyadh and a net-zero-ready airport terminal in Monterey push us to rethink how buildings use energy.

You’ll also see two very different justice projects and a workplace in Birmingham, UK, that takes neuroinclusion and everyday dignity seriously.

As you explore these stories, you’ll hear directly from the teams who wrestled with these challenges. Every story grows out of conversations between clients willing to take on hard questions and HOK teams who bring technical depth, curiosity and care to the table. Seen together in a collection like this, they’re a timely reminder of how design can improve climate resilience, equity and everyday life in our communities. That’s work worth doing.
