Bay Meadows Village is a transit-oriented mixed-use commercial development planned for the former site of the Bay Meadows racetrack in San Mateo, Calif., adjacent to the Caltrain station.
Our team worked with developer Wilson Meany Sullivan and a team of planners and architects to develop a plan for the adaptive reuse of this site. Beginning with the primary concept of a transit-oriented development to minimize automobile dependency, HOK’s plan creates a flexible framework of streets, public spaces and passages. The plan focuses each parcel on its connection to the Caltrain station platform.
The five-building 750,000-square-foot office development scheme addresses the need for flexible office floor plates, retail space and an ample amount of commuter parking.
The entire Bay Meadows program accommodates 1.25 million square feet of office use, 1,250 multi-family residential units, 150,000 square feet of retail space and 15 square acres of public parks and open space.
