Imperial Oil Campus

Calgary, Alberta

Aspiring to create a more community-centric employee culture, Imperial Oil moved its downtown Calgary operations to a campus-style office in the suburbs of Quarry Park.

HOK provided architectural and interior design for the five low-rise office buildings linked together by a 750-foot corridor called the “Pipeline.”

The campus’s large, open floor plans and strategically placed teaming spaces create ample opportunities for interaction and collaboration. Wireless technology and unassigned “We3” neighborhoods give Imperial’s people flexibility in how and where they work. Every workstation has access to full-height windows and views to the outside.

Amenity spaces include a 24-7 fitness and wellness center, a health clinic, a 25,000-sq.-ft. cafeteria that seats 400, kitchenettes and an IT solution center. “The Summit” conference center offers different-sized rooms for meetings and workshops.

Imperial’s commitment to minimizing its impact on the environment guided the design of the LEED Gold campus, which is approximately 42 percent more energy-efficient than Canada’s building performance standard.
