Elizabeth Sullivan ASSOC. AIA, LEED Green Associate, EDAC

Regional Leader of Healthcare, Northeast
“Great healthcare design is strategic and human-centered—built to adapt, serve and uplift. When architecture aligns with purpose, it empowers people and transforms care.”

Elizabeth co-leads HOK’s Healthcare practice across the Northeastern U.S., partnering with Laura Poltronieri, AIA, to drive strategy, thought leadership, business development and project delivery. A principal in HOK’s New York studio, she advises academic medical centers, health systems and specialty providers on designing resilient environments that support patients, staff, operational leaders and the broader community.

With over 20 years of experience in healthcare planning and design, Elizabeth brings leadership insight from both the owner and consultant perspectives. She has led hundreds of projects, from modular outpatient clinics and ambulatory hubs to high-acuity inpatient expansions and international initiatives. Her unique dual perspective enables her to translate complex clinical needs into efficient, adaptable spaces that advance care delivery and enhance the user experience.

Elizabeth’s approach centers on flexibility, sustainability and evidence-based design principles that promote operational excellence and well-being. A passionate mentor and educator, she teaches graduate-level healthcare design at the New York School of Interior Design and frequently presents at national forums. She is actively engaged in AIA New York’s Design for Health Committee, Women in Healthcare and the New York chapter of the Association of Medical Facility Professionals (AMFP).
