HOK Expands Leadership Across Southeastern and Western U.S. Studios

Four new leaders will support growth in HOK’s Healthcare and Civic + Justice practices and strengthen design leadership across key regions.

HOK has welcomed Jonathan Cantor, AIA, as regional leader of Healthcare for the Southeast U.S.; Michel Borg, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, as principal-design in HOK’s Tampa studio; Guillermo Murcia, AIA, LEED AP, as principal-design in Atlanta; and Emily Lawson, AIA, as regional leader of Civic + Justice in San Francisco.

Cantor brings more than 20 years of experience designing thoughtful, patient-centered healthcare environments. His portfolio includes cancer centers, academic research facilities, ambulatory surgery centers and orthopedic hospitals. He is working with HOK’s Healthcare practice to expand its presence in Florida and the broader region.

Borg joins HOK’s Tampa studio with 30+ years of expertise leading multidisciplinary teams. His design portfolio spans the corporate, academic, science and technology, healthcare and hospitality sectors. Borg is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and AIA Florida, where he has served on the publications committee for Florida/Caribbean Architect magazine.

Murcia brings three decades of global design experience to HOK’s Atlanta studio. His award-winning work includes master plans, workplaces, residential buildings, hotels, commercial developments, museums and academic buildings, and cultural and hospitality spaces. His work spans the globe, with projects in the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Lawson specializes in the design of courthouses and other public sector buildings and previously partnered with HOK on the design of the San Francisco Public Safety Campus. Based in San Francisco, she’ll work with local and regional teams to expand HOK’s Civic + Justice practice in Northern California and beyond.

“These new leaders bring a diverse range of expertise that will elevate our design practice and expand our ability to serve clients across multiple markets,” said Susan Klumpp Williams, co-CEO of HOK. “Their insight and leadership will strengthen our studios and reinforce our commitment to creating innovative, human-centered environments.”
