Kay Sargent, Dina Lamanna, Ashley James and Emma Lawrie were honored in the American Society of Interior Designers’ (ASID) 2025 National Awards.
Sargent, director of thought leadership for HOK’s Interiors group, was honored in ASID’s Legacy Awards with the Luminary of Distinction, recognizing her contributions to interior design through education, advocacy and research. She was also selected for the ASID 50, a one-time program commemorating the organization’s 50th anniversary that celebrates individuals who embody the society’s spirit and have advanced the profession.
With nearly 40 years of experience, Sargent is a leader in designing spaces that transform how and where people work. She recently authored Designing Neuroinclusive Workplaces, a book that shares insights, case studies and strategies for creating environments that support both neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals.
Lamanna, HOK’s director of hospitality interior design, received Designer of the Year in ASID’s Annual Awards, which honor innovative designers making a significant impact through their work. Her portfolio includes projects for Four Seasons, Hilton, Marriott International, Princess Cruises, the Walt Disney Family Foundation, Silverwest Hotels and Westin.
James, an interior designer in HOK’s St. Louis studio, and Lawrie, a senior designer in Toronto, were honored in ASID’s One to Watch program, which recognizes rising leaders in interior design.
James is known for her collaborative style and creates tailored design solutions in the corporate, civic, lifestyle and aviation sectors. She also has served as president of the IIDA’s St. Louis chapter.
Lawrie designs high-performance workplaces that help employees thrive. Interior Design magazine recognized her in its 30/30 Toronto program in 2024.
These honors reflect HOK’s commitment to advancing interior design through leadership, research and innovation.
“Kay, Dina, Ashley and Emma are extraordinary interior designers who are deeply committed to their clients and to enriching people’s lives through design,” said Tom Polucci, firm-wide director of HOK’s Interiors group. “We are proud to see their talent, leadership and impact recognized by ASID with these prestigious honors.”
