We have always believed design can lift people up, solve our clients’ problems and heal the planet. Today, with expectations shifting and environmental pressures mounting, this belief drives us more than ever.
Our 2025 Making a Difference by Design report outlines how HOK’s global teams are advancing this work across four pillars: People, Planet, Community Prosperity and Governance.
- People: We are championing dignity and equality through our Diversity Advisory Council and the global rollout of our Designing for Everyone framework. We want our projects to work for all people.
- Planet: We are designing the future with accountability. In addition to cutting energy use by 68% across our portfolio, we have set SBTi-verified Net-Zero targets for 2030 and 2050—commitments that earned HOK recognition as Metropolis magazine’s 2025 Planet Positive Firm of the Year.
- Community Prosperity: Beyond our projects, we are working to leave neighborhoods better off. In 2024, our people donated thousands of volunteer hours and significant financial support to local causes, while our designs help drive the green economy.
- Governance: As a 100% employee-owned firm, every leader has a personal stake in our collective success. We operate with a culture of integrity.
This report is both a measure of our progress and a roadmap for the serious work ahead. We are grateful to our clients, partners and employees who share our commitment to creating a more sustainable, equitable and resilient built environment.
