HOK’s Sean Quinn will participate in panel discussion on “Building Resilience: How Can We Adapt to Changing Natural Systems?” for Metropolis Perspective: Sustainability Los Angeles symposium.
In the past, architecture and design have often sought to keep nature outside and to insulate living and working environments. But those buildings and structures don’t always stand up well in the face of natural events of fire, floods, earthquakes or storms. In recent years, designers have changed strategies and are starting to work with nature rather than against it. This panel discussion explores the successes of resilient architecture and design, as well as the opportunities ahead.
