Imperial Oil Headquarters Relocation

Calgary, Alberta

HOK supported Imperial Oil’s efforts to consolidate its Canadian headquarters from a downtown tower into a suburban office campus.

Our team created a new workplace strategy that transformed how the company uses its space: from 100 percent assigned desks to completely unassigned seating.

After helping to develop the detailed program and coordinating with the base building architect to ensure that the building specification met Imperial’s functional requirements, HOK provided full interior fit-up services. Our dedicated on-site occupancy planner communicated directly with end users to plan how the space would be occupied.

To help Imperial formulate a plan for moving out of its downtown office space, we developed multiple campus planning scenarios for sequential occupancy over a one-year period—while the campus was still under construction.

We then provided move management services to coordinate the 2,000-person phased relocation, as well as project management during construction.

HOK’s dedicated team of seven move managers guided Imperial’s relocation activities every weekend for 12 months. We continued to support its ongoing occupancy needs for two years after its people occupied the campus.
