The five-star, 401-key luxury resort features 29 saleable villas, 27 hotel villas, two large swimming pools, a state-of-the-art spa, a three-meal restaurant, bars, an ocean-side restaurant and a private marina.
The design concept evolved from the property’s location cradled between the sea and mountains. The team developed the site plan and massing based on the story of the sea dragon and mountain dragon meeting as one on the beach.
The “twin dragon” concept can be seen in the resort’s unique roof forms, which rise from the beachfront to create softly vaulted forms linking the waves with the mountains beyond. Large overhangs and grand arched public spaces allow the open-truss structure to bring the dragon forms into the interior of the main buildings.
The uniqueness of the arrival approach – by land or water – culminates at the exclusive marina and monumental entrance pavilion. As a dynamic, undulating form clad in pristine beige terra cotta, the canopy acts as the hotel’s architectural centerpiece.
Anchoring the lobby, the resort radiates out from this cross axis. The property is divided into two equal parts, with beach resort and hotel facilities to the south and separate villas to the north along the river. Guestroom wings emanate from either side of the lobby. By creating a linear plan along the beach with a wide central court, virtually every guestroom is afforded a dramatic view.
