Capital One, the eighth-largest bank holding company in the United States, also conducts business in Canada and the United Kingdom. Operating in 1,040 locations across three countries, the company’s real estate portfolio exceeds 8.6 million square feet and accommodates approximately 49,000 employees.
In response to Capital One’s needs for improved occupancy data, portfolio flexibility and a workplace strategy, HOK assigned 15 space planning professionals to work on site with the company’s teams in Richmond, Virginia; Washington, D.C.; Dallas; Chicago; and Toronto.
HOK’s team supported Capital One’s rapid growth, including a nearly 70 percent increase in headcount over three years and the acquisition of two business units. Our flexible delivery structure enabled the on-site team to expand with its needs while continuing to deliver space planning and management services to support its workplace strategy.
HOK helped transform how Capital One delivers space planning services by improving the overall quality of its occupancy data and creating measurable efficiency gains and cost savings. By creating and applying a consistent approach to the delivery of pre-project planning services, we were able to balance the workload across the team and ensure on-time project delivery.
