“I’ve said many times that athletics is the front porch of the institution, and that a strong program benefits Mizzou immeasurably. These facility projects will go a long way toward helping guide the future success of our program, which is already very strong, and they will help us attract the very best and brightest student athletes in the nation.”
The University of Missouri’s move to the Southeastern Conference created an opportunity for Mizzou Athletics to provide new premium seating areas that elevate the fan experience.
HOK’s design converted open-air terraces on Memorial Stadium’s sixth floor into a modern press box. This opened up 4,000 square feet of space on the fifth floor, which formerly housed press facilities. The space was redesigned into three new founder’s suites and 10 loge boxes as well as a bar and buffet area. The addition of new premium space generates additional revenue for the university.
The project also included upgrades to existing third- and fourth-floor club areas, including all new furniture and finishes as well as enhanced technologies. A private staircase that connects the third and fourth floors increases interaction between the club areas and fourth-floor suites.
Integrated environmental graphics highlighting the history of Mizzou Athletics create an experience that draws visitors into the space. High-end finishes, subtle use of the university’s signature black and gold tiger stripes, historical images and multi-dimensional displays help create a sophisticated fan experience.
Retractable windows allow the energy and excitement of the full game-day experience to permeate the club spaces.
