HOK’s renovation design creates a contemporary, efficient work space for more than 3,300 government staff members while retaining and restoring the building’s unique original features. The open-plan environment supports interaction, communication and collaboration in less hierarchical workspaces, transforming the work processes of the Ministry of Defence.
The historic rooms from Pembroke House and Cromwell House, which were rebuilt in their current location in 1951, have been carefully restored. Entrances, halls and lobbies reflect the historic character while incorporating updated security features.
The team completed the project within the budget and two months ahead of schedule.
