“Revit was used throughout the design and construction of the project and has played an instrumental role in delivering the project on time and on budget.”
Completed within an extremely fast schedule, 5 Churchill Place was built on an irregularly shaped site over a pre-existing basement and a ramp structure that served a neighboring building. Tenants have easy access to the London Underground’s Jubilee line and light rail.
The design of the adjacent public square demonstrates the advantages of an integrated approach to architecture and landscape design. The square is designed to complement the tower and its surroundings.
This new public plaza is located on top of an existing slab, above the plant room of the 5 Churchill Place building. All planting areas were raised above the existing level and carefully waterproofed to avoid leaks. The plaza features raised platforms and terraces that bridge the 1.6-meter height difference between two existing levels.
This project was conceived, designed and built with the aid of building information modeling. Using BIM, the design team was able to involve all parties at early stages of design, streamlining the process and reducing the number of design changes during later phases.
