The office facilitates kCura’s evolution from a startup business to a successful technology company.
To guide the planning and design, the team conducted an anthropological study of kCura’s development group. The exercise identified specific workplace strategies for supporting individual work styles and preferences, which became part of the design concept.
An open floor plan and collaborative furniture systems enable individuals and groups to easily customize their environments while facilitating the flexible work schedules of kCura’s mobile workforce.
The firm’s core values are reflected and reinforced throughout the high-energy space. The relaxed environment encourages creativity and freedom of expression, with brightly colored corner collaboration spaces for informal interaction and brainstorming. Advanced media technology integrated throughout the office is used to welcome visitors, communicate brand messaging and motivate staff.
The project included renovating portions of the company’s existing space to accommodate its training and conferencing needs.
As a gesture to kCura’s early days, the reception area features the original green leather couch from the company’s first office. The new workplace celebrates Chicago through conference rooms and breakout areas named after the city’s landmarks and neighborhoods.
