The structure of a distributed cloud network inspired HOK’s design, which accommodates the diverse work styles of EarthLink’s people while maximizing real estate efficiencies.
HOK’s design team conducted a series of surveys, focus groups and leadership meetings to help define the character of the space, which emphasizes openness and collaboration. Accents of reclaimed wood convey the company’s stability, while leading-edge technology reinforces EarthLink’s core business and commitment to productivity.
A central monumental staircase with floating treads connects the public areas on each floor. Collaboration is cultivated through a hub area that accommodates formal and impromptu meetings while functioning as a break room and distributed ad-hoc space.
The open office environment features workstations with expansive vistas and abundant daylight that penetrates into glass-fronted interior offices. Enclosed conference rooms, open teaming areas and small spaces for focused work support the collaboration needs of EarthLink’s people.
