The vision is to renew the medical center campus through phased renovations and new construction. This 10-year project will create environments that transform the delivery of care, teaching and research while strengthening the bond between BJC HealthCare and the community.
At Barnes-Jewish Hospital, a new inpatient tower will consolidate obstetrics and gynecological services, expand clinical care at the Siteman Cancer Center, expand other surgical programs and create new space for faculty practice clinics and diagnostics.
Phase 1 also includes new construction at St. Louis Children’s Hospital to substantially increase the number of private beds and expand diagnostics and treatment services, outpatient clinics and support services.
The entire Phase 1 project will create an environment for greater well-being of patients and families through better wayfinding, engaging public and open spaces, and improved functionality and aesthetics. Additional parking and intuitive arrival and departure zones will simplify the patient experience.
Plans for future renovation and new construction on the south campus include a new Barnes-Jewish Hospital inpatient tower that will enable the hospital to expand its heart and vascular, neurology and neurosurgery, transplant, trauma and critical care, and general medicine programs.
