Three HOK Leaders Elevated to AIA College of Fellows in 2019

Mara Baum, sustainable design leader and director of health and wellness; Bill Johnson, design principal in Kansas City; and Julia Monk, director of hospitality, have been elevated to the American Institute of Architect’s prestigious College of Fellows.

The honor is reserved for AIA members who have made significant contributions to the architecture profession. Less than 4 percent of the AIA’s 94,000 members are Fellows.

For 2019, just 115 AIA members were elevated and recognized for their accomplishments in one of four categories:

  • Promoting the aesthetic, scientific, and practical efficiency of the profession.
  • Advancing the science and art of planning and building by advancing the standards of architectural education, training or practice.
  • Coordinating the building industry and the profession of architecture through leadership in the AIA or other related professional organizations.
  • Advancing the living standards of people through an improved environment.

New Fellows will be honored at a ceremony on June 7 at the AIA Conference on Architecture 2019 in Las Vegas.
