Three HOK Projects Shortlisted for FX Interior Design Awards

The FX International Interior Design Awards honor the best in the industry. Winners will be announced on Nov. 28 in London.

Three HOK projects have been named to the FX Awards shortlist: NewYork-Presbyterian David H. Koch Center in New York (public sector category); 151 W 42nd Street Lobby in New York (public space scheme category); and Rogers Place in Edmonton (global project category).

Public Sector: NewYork-Presbyterian David H. Koch Center - HOK, Ballinger, Pei Cobb Freed

Located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, the healthcare facility prioritizes the human experience and provides a comprehensive suite of services for patients in a contemporary and soothing environment. The center offers a warm, inviting and transparent face to the community with its wood screen exterior and glazed facade, while the use of natural materials and lighting throughout the interior spaces evokes comfort and ease.

Public Space Scheme: 151 W 42nd Street Lobby - HOK

The minimalistic design approach for the renovated lobby—a direct response to the visual chaos of nearby Times Square—features simple materials with a dynamic, highly sculptural ceiling. Indian granite stone flooring with a flamed, honed finish extends from the sidewalk into the lobby through the crisp entry portals, and a cascading diamond pattern with several layers of texture activates the ceiling and welcomes guests.

Global Project: Rogers Place - HOK

Rogers Place and the adjacent ICE District meld an iconic architectural design and new development with Edmonton’s well-established commercial and residential neighborhoods. As the home of the storied Edmonton Oilers hockey franchise, Rogers Place honors teams and individuals of the past with historical images and pays tribute to the local climate with the curvilinear white interior and dotted ceiling lights that reference snowdrifts and falling snow.
