HOK Builds Team of WELL Accredited Professionals
To provide clients with a health and wellness-centered approach to design, engineering and consulting, HOK is building a team of WELL Accredited Professionals (WELL AP™).
Since the firm’s internal WELL Building Standard (WELL™) education program was announced six months ago, more than 55 HOK staff members have become WELL APs, a designation signifying their specialization in WELL and advanced knowledge of health and well-being in the built environment. The group includes HOK architects, interior designers, consultants, engineers and sustainable design specialists across 11 offices.
“Our clients look to us to provide expertise and guidance on emerging issues,” said Anica Landreneau, Associate AIA, LEED AP, WELL AP, director of sustainable design. “Having access to this internal expertise across the firm enables us to build a platform for human health and wellness in the spaces, buildings and communities we design.”
In addition, Mara Baum, James Stawniczy and Erin Ezell have been trained as WELL Faculty. The effort corresponds with a partnership HOK and Delos™ announced last fall to accelerate health and well-being in the built environment.
“Improving the health and wellness of employees through the built environment is key to ensuring that they are engaged and empowered,” said Kay Sargent, ASID, IIDA, CID, LEED AP, WELL AP, senior vice president and director of HOK’s WorkPlace practice. “WELL is a powerful tool that helps us create people-centered, evidence-based designs. Being a WELL AP is much more than letters behind a title. It’s a commitment to addressing challenges head on and planning for a better future.”
In March, HOK’s London office hosted a networking session that brought together over 80 clients and industry leaders to learn about and discuss WELL. Here’s a video of that event:
