California Healthcare Facility Stockton Opens
In this 54-building complex, which began accepting inmates last summer, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the Department of State Hospitals and the California Correctional Health Care Services have joined for the first time to revolutionize inmate care.
The 1.2-million-sq.-ft. facility was built through two design-build packages. HOK was the designer and architect of record for the first package, which was completed in August 2013. HOK worked as part of a design-build team with Hensel Phelps to build the site, including grading and roads, fencing, towers, central utility plant, central warehouse, and all utilities and roads to enable the site.
