Yorgo Lykouria is the creative director for HOK Product Design, an independent business that combines the intelligence of HOK’s practice experts with industrial design leadership to create meaningful products for the built environment.
He has more than 20 years of experience in industrial design and architecture. He is co-leading HOK Product Design’s efforts to establish a design culture that creates relevant, visionary work.
His broad spectrum of experience includes the Sony Center in Berlin, the Post Tower in Bonn, the Cologne Bonn Airport, automotive interiors for Ferrari, and various projects for Vitra, Akaba, Alape and Dornbracht. Since joining HOK Product Design, Yorgo has collaborated with manufacturers including Scavolini and Koleksiyon. His team won the Glen Raven/Trivantage competition for shading structures.
Before changing his focus to product design, Yorgo worked as an architect. He was the youngest vice president at the office of Helmut Jahn in Chicago. For 12 years after that, he led Lykouria, his own multidisciplinary studio in London.
“More than just giving form, I focus on how the products we design can enhance our sense of living in the present. I want to reintroduce moments of wonder and conscious reflection into everyday life. My process is based on the idea that design begins with an open mind.”
