Susan Grossinger, IIDA, LEED AP, is a senior vice president and the director of HOK Product Design, an independent business that combines the intelligence of HOK’s practice experts with industrial design leadership to create meaningful products for the built environment.
Susan, who joined HOK in 1994, has enjoyed a 33-year career in the design profession. Before co-founding HOK Product Design in 2009, she spent 15 years as director of interiors in Los Angeles. The IIDA recently honored her with a lifetime membership.
Throughout her career, Susan has focused on listening closely to clients and providing them with highly functional yet imaginative design solutions. She has helped introduce more than 40 products and currently is developing 25 more in the workplace, healthcare, lighting, laboratory and airport markets. The Clestra Irys demountable wall system recently earned HOK Product Design’s first Red Dot Award.
She is active with environmental and animal rights nonprofits, and has served on the board of directors for Heal the Bay in Santa Monica, California, for the past 15 years.
“The global background and creativity of our people, who work on planning and design projects all over the world, give us a unique perspective that we apply to the creation of our products. The key to HOK Product Design’s success has been our ability to identify gaps in the market and then to design innovative products that perfectly match our manufacturer clients’ portfolios.”
