“Buildings are a prime example of how human systems integrate with natural systems. The Change Initiative efficiently uses our natural resources to make an immediate, positive impact on our planet, which will tremendously benefit future generations to come.”
The Change Initiative is Dubai’s first retail destination to sell only sustainable products and services.
The stylish, sustainable living solutions displayed in the renovated two-story store include products related to energy conservation, waste management, organic food and various lifestyle items. The store serves residential consumers on the ground floor and commercial and institutional organizations on the floor above.
HOK created a customer learning journey based on four core zones: energy, water, waste and household. The design team layered this journey with a branding and organizational strategy for space organization, merchandising and graphics. The vibrant, contemporary design demonstrates that sustainable materials do not need to have a rustic appearance.
The space integrates learning lounges, interactive zones, training areas and model mock-up home and office facilities.
Achieving 107 out of a possible 110 points, The Change Initiative is the highest-scoring LEED for Commercial Interiors Platinum project in the world.
