The hotel includes more than 100,000 square feet of event space, a grand lobby with an atrium skylight, and five retail and restaurant options. An underground walkway links guests to the convention center.
The design weaves elements such as sculptures, gardens, water features and copper walls into the central atrium. Seasonal gardens, water patterns from the Potomac River and cherry blossoms permeate the interior of additional public areas, including the restaurants and grand ballroom. All of these features add depth, character and warmth while bringing the outdoors into the space.
Custom-designed guest rooms by HOK feature a neutral palette, with interior-facing rooms and suites offering views of the extravagant lobby while those facing the exterior provide views of downtown. Dining venues include casual restaurant Anthem; upscale lounge The Dignitary, which includes a 40-seat outdoor patio; a high-tech sports bar called High Velocity; a lobby bar with locally sourced food; and a specialty restaurant scheduled for opening in late 2014.
Designed with a focus on sustainability, the Washington Marriott Marquis is one of the largest LEED Silver-certified hotels in the US.
