HOK designed the 717 Texas office tower – formerly the Calpine Center – for Hines in downtown Houston.

Located in the heart of the theater district, the 33-story building contains 600,000 square feet of office space over a podium of parking for 1,200 cars and street level retail.

The 25,000-sq.-ft. floor plates provide flexible space for tenants. The structural bays offer clear spaces of 42 feet from core to outside wall, with deep end conditions to meet tenants’ needs for support spaces.

This is a contemporary tower with elements that are distinct to its place. Reflecting the district’s historic nature, HOK’s design uses a combination of brick and precast along with modern glass curtain wall.
