Alliance Francaise is a not-for-profit organization that promotes the French language and culture in South Florida through a language school and other cultural activities.
HOK designed the renovation of a printing house to serve as the Alliance’s new headquarters in Miami. The project is on Eighth Street, or “Calle Ocho,” the famous center of Latin and Cuban culture in the heart of Miami.
The design economically rehabilitates the building to accommodate new uses including a reception area, classrooms, a library, a meeting hall, offices and a cafe.
To help create an exciting new image for the center, the new entry areas are housed in two bold graphic towers – blue and red – transected by the strong diagonal slope of the new roof.
