Honolulu International Airport Terminal Modernization Program
Honolulu, Hawaii, USA

“The modernization program is intended to upgrade Hawaii's airports to meet visitor expectations, while preserving a unique character that is respectful and reflective of the Hawaiian culture and history.”

Brian Sekiguchi
Deputy Director for Airports, Hawaii Department of Transportation

This project will improve the first and last impressions of Hawaii for the more than 20 million travelers who pass through Honolulu International Airport each year.

The terminal modernization program is bringing Honolulu’s airport into the present day while preparing it for the future. The plans go beyond a simple facelift to accommodate the airport’s future growth.

The multi-phase plan includes new concourses, aircraft parking, an automated people mover, a maintenance hangar, cargo buildings and infrastructure improvements. HOK is the master architect.

The Honolulu project is part of a statewide airport modernization program projected to generate $5.1 billion in cumulative economic activity.
