HOK helped Microsoft Mobile rightsize its real estate portfolio as it transformed itself from a hardware company into a services company.
In collaboration with the company’s corporate real estate (CRE) group, our space management team supported the rightsizing of the portfolio during a period of significant staff reduction. HOK adjusted our occupancy planning team on a monthly basis to ensure that strategic planning and ongoing projects aligned with real-time changes and short-term forecasts.
In addition to helping transform the CRE group’s approach to project delivery, HOK’s space management team supported the reduction of Microsoft Mobile’s global portfolio by 50 percent in 24 months.
The team greatly improved the quality of the space and occupancy data used to make planning decisions about Microsoft Mobile’s global portfolio. This streamlined and made all phases of the project delivery process significantly more cost effective.
