Mississippi State University Davis Wade Stadium Renovation & Expansion

Starkville, Mississippi

The design for the renovation of Mississippi State’s century-old Davis Wade Stadium transformed one of the smallest and oldest venues in college football’s powerful Southeastern Conference into one of its most fan-friendly, engaging and—for players on opposing teams—intimidating.

An expansion to the north end zone increases the stadium’s capacity from 55,000 to more than 61,000 and provides new revenue-generating premium seating options. The addition of more than 8,000 seats—a mix of student and premium offerings—creates a wall of noise and distinct home-field advantage.

With enhanced food and beverage services, high-definition video screens and several social gathering spaces, the new premium seating options rival those found in NFL stadiums.

The Gridiron Field Level Club provides season-ticket holders a “toes on the turf” experience. Made up of loge seats and nearly two-dozen skyboxes, the State Level offers a lower price point than existing premium options. A third option, the Scoreboard Club along the top level of the new north end zone, is designed to attract next-generation fans taking their first step into premium seating.

To ensure that the project wouldn’t disrupt Mississippi State’s football team, HOK and LPK Architects created a carefully phased, two-year construction program.
