Housed on two-and-a-half floors of a Playa Vista office building, the workplace introduces a 100 percent open environment and new space standards to employees. HOK’s design provides flexibility to accommodate a potential future shift to an activity-based work environment with no assigned workspaces.
An “industrial beach” aesthetic provides a cohesive theme that reinforces the Southern California locale.
Organized as a series of neighborhoods, the office features client and employee public zones supported by unique collaborative spaces that express each company’s personality and contribute to intuitive wayfinding. Other shared amenities include three large outdoor balconies, living walls, state-of-the-art audiovisual and production rooms, and multiple meeting areas.
HOK’s team worked closely with all eight firms to customize the space to align with their unique functional needs and values. The relocation was accompanied by a comprehensive change management process that included employee surveys and focus groups, manager work sessions and a change ambassador initiation program.
This flexible workspace supports future growth without the need for additional real estate.
