A “town square” anchors the hospital and provides elegant, simple wayfinding from the main lobby. All diagnostic and procedural areas, reception/waiting areas, inpatient elevators, a chapel and the emergency department are visible from the town square.
Designed to expand to up to 300 beds, the 131-bed hospital offers emergency care, general surgery, orthopedic care, cardiac care, labor and delivery, critical care, medical imaging and diagnostic services.
Views of the outdoors, including an existing pond and landscaped entry, act as a unifying element for the building. An indoor water feature drops three stories to the lower dining area. Visitors can access an outdoor terrace and water feature from the dining area.
HOK also designed the adjacent 120,000-square-foot medical office building, which includes physician offices, a cancer center, administration offices and a conference center.
