A Gateway to Indianapolis
and a Sustainable Future

Indianapolis International Airport Colonel H. Weir Cook Terminal
Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

“We wanted to create a memorable new image for the city while at the same time take some of the stress out of flying.”

John Kish
Former Executive Director, Indianapolis Airport Authority

The 1.2 million-sq.-ft. Colonel H. Weir Cook Terminal is America’s first post-9/11, sustainably focused, greenfield air terminal.

The terminal acts as a world-class gateway to Indianapolis while providing exceptional customer service and flexibility for future changes.

At the heart of the terminal, a 200-foot-wide room creates a great “Civic Plaza” where art, retail, social and civic functions converge. Capped with a hyperbolic glass and steel skylight, this room has become a threshold to the “crossroads of America.”

In a 2010 J.D. Power and Associates survey of 12,000 passengers, the Indianapolis Airport received the highest customer satisfaction score of any North American airport. Airports Council International named it the best airport in North America for 2012.

Architect magazine reported that the new air terminal “creates an iconic destination for travelers to this Midwestern capital city while proving that it’s possible to decrease the airline industry’s environmental footprint.”

This is the world’s first complete airport campus to earn LEED certification and one of the largest LEED-certified projects in the US.
