Harris Associates asked HOK to create a more open workplace environment that would bring together their international and domestic investment teams.
The space plan integrates the different groups by creating distinct areas for gathering and collaboration. An open office plan encourages connectivity, with frosted glass dividers offering privacy for individual offices while still communicating an open feeling.
The design team reinforced the theme of connectivity in the finishes and furniture. Using two tones of wood on the internal stair, for example, expresses the interconnections between the two floors and business groups. The furniture conveys this “linking” effect by combining colors, patterns and materials into one cohesive appearance. Warm wood tones throughout the office contrast with cooler tones in the café area, which doubles as a casual space for conversation and the cross-pollination of ideas.
With its modern trading environment, large conference rooms and elegant aesthetic, the new office provides a more collaborative and professional environment for employees and clients.
