“Our goal is to make Boulevard a more sustainable company and a more sustainable business citizen in Kansas City.”
Built adjacent to Boulevard’s original plant as a “model of efficient urban land use,” the new facility includes a two-story, state-of-the-art brewing and packaging facility with skylights that illuminate the atrium.
The third floor houses Boulevard’s offices, two large hospitality rooms and an outdoor terrace overlooking downtown. This venue has generated additional revenue for Boulevard by becoming one of Kansas City’s most popular small-event spaces.
Embedded in Boulevard’s DNA is a desire to reduce its environmental footprint and to promote sustainable business practices. A green roof on the brewhouse and packaging building provides thermal value while reducing stormwater runoff. Solar panels on the roof, high-efficiency HVAC systems and a zone control strategy conserve energy. Natural light enters the space through large windows, skylights and light wells.
The facility is in a prominent location on the industrial edge of downtown Kansas City. With a brick and stone facade punctuated by storefront glazing and glass blocks, the new brewhouse respects the local context while inviting views into Boulevard’s meticulous brewing process.
