Challenged by a square-shaped site, the team studied several alternatives for developing an interesting layout with and without using atriums. Arvind ultimately selected a scheme that creates a “through-street” atrium that provides an open feel.
By including a half-basement, HOK’s team created five usable floors within the stipulated height restriction. The design adds open space by incorporating a multi-level atrium with a non-structural roof.
Etensive solar analyses and shading studies enabled the team to determine the appropriate amount of glazing for the building.
