“We are extremely proud of Fitzrovia Apartments. The development demonstrates our ability to plan and execute innovative projects that outshine the international competition.”
The project integrates a healthcare facility, market-rate and social/public housing and offices in a retained historic London structure. It includes a new outpatient department for the RNOH, luxury and affordable housing and the adaptation of the hospital’s former Waiting Hall into office space.
The team’s design for the orthopedic clinic creates a seamless, welcoming series of spaces enriched by the extensive use of natural light. Each program element is expressed on the elevations, providing a lively, articulate expression that complements the ornate character of neighboring Edwardian buildings.
A glazed reception area with double-height ceilings opens onto a courtyard with stunning landscaped gardens, providing a place to escape the busy London streets.
The project required successful collaboration between the public and private sectors. The design for the confined urban site is rooted in social sustainability, with the healthcare component putting people and well-being at the heart of the development. Most of the 70 apartments have already been sold.
